New Order (eng)

Order was the key word of this edition of Bread and Butter.
The new logic of the fair drifts away from last year’s concept: from king sizes, gold and fluo to a reduced number of brands, minimal white and a sober choice of colours.
Order, as I was saying, in the endless collection of brands, that was downsized from almost 1000 to 893 and that, according to Muller -head of the BBB organization-, next year will be cut to 800. It is a statement that forecasts a change in the road map: less quantity and more quality.
On the other hand, this might be one of the causes of this year’s drop in the number of the participants; another one might be the motto “profile your business”, which suggested an event much more specific compared to the previous BBB. Even if, being the organization so accurate, it is likely that the Berliners had already planned such a drop in the participation.
However the fair was on its level. The Denim pavilion showed its richness, the Fashion one its usual gadgets, strass and piette. Possibly the Street one this year was kind of repetitive, except for some interesting collection (check out the pictures). The set-up of the Superior pavilion was great.
On the last day I found a peaceful oasis in “The Source”: leather badge holder laces, glamorously designed venue that miss no detail (also because this year it hosted the collections of the fashion design schools), The Source is the area entirely dedicated to fashion textile industry. The jeans collection is worth a visit, and so are Le Corbusier sofas in Welsh square texture.
The name of the next edition? …. United Nation of Bread and Butter.
